Hiona has a sad soul. She fell deeply in love, but is doomed to never see her love again. One day Hiona was watching the sea from her favorite rock when she sensed trouble. She saw a sailor get knocked overboard into rough waters, and swam to save him despite being warned by her family not to involve herself with humans. She dragged the man up to the beach where he was saved, but Hiona has not seen him since.

Hiona�s family always warned her to stay away from humans as mermaids fall in love with human men very easily. Now Hiona knows this is true for she fell in love in a matter of moments. But the man was unconscious when she found him and unconscious when she was forced to leave him on the beach. He was saved by others but had no memories of her help. Only Hiona remembers the incident and is doomed to love a man she�ll never know for the rest of her life.

Aelfwine is extremely popular not just with the other fairies in the forest, but with all manners of magical creatures. She is suitably names Aelfwine which means "friend of the elves," but she has friendships with pixies and sprites as well. She's been known to buddy around with nymphs and mermaids, but she has yet to accomplish one of her most pressing goals.

Aelfwine would love to meet a human. She knows that humans are not to see or speak with fairies and up to this point Aelfwine has followed the fairy rules closely. But sometimes she sneaks up to campers or hikers in the forest to watch them walk or visit and wonders what harm there would be in simply greeting them and trying to strike up a friendship. The temptation to socialize with humans is growing stronger for Aelfwine and it is just a matter of time before she finds herself a human friend - could it be you?

Rhoslyn is very different from her fairy friends. Unlike her friends who are loud and merry, Rhosyln is quiet and almost shy. She's known her fairy friends since childhood, but she still can't seem to relax completely around others. She is most comfortable when she's on her own exploring quiet corners of the woods or nestled inside a blooming flower just listening to the breeze blow.

If Rhoslyn had her way, she'd make a lovely cottage up high in the forest and spend her days bustling about watching the activities of others without trying to make conversation or act like anyone but who she really is. Her parents and good friends are always trying to "help" her come out of her shell, but Rhosyln knows that one day everyone will realize that she is truly just a quiet, gentle fairy and respect her wishes for long periods of solitude.

Ellfredda is one of the most important fairies in her glen. She is on the fairy council and is the ambassador appointed to visit and negotiate with the elves of the forest should the need arise. Ellfredda may be privy to the many secrets and politics behind the council's decisions for the fairy kingdom, but that doesn't mean she necessarily agrees with everything they decide.

Ellfredda has a great deal of power when it comes to working with other magical creatures, but when working in a council, there must be compromises. Ellfredda works hard to find settlements that suit not only her political interest, the relationship between elves and fairies, but solutions that also are agreeable to her own ambitions and those of her close friends.

Nerida is beautiful. All fairies are beautiful, of course, but Nerida is one of the most beautiful of all. Not only is her beauty enchanting to those who see her, it can also dazzle admirers so thoroughly that they forget themselves and fall into a trance. Nerida should be a polite and honest fairy and simply help the victims come back to themselves, but instead she has a bit of fun at their expense.

Nerida enjoys the attention her beauty brings her, and when her admirers fall into a dazed, hypnotic state by staring at her face, she uses her beauty for a joke or two. She's sent one fairy swimming in the middle of winter, and had another deliver flowers and candy to her brother. Nerida may have fun with the fairies, but she does make sure that she never does anything that would be too mean or harmful.
